Our FAQ and Terms and Conditions Statement outlines important information about Forward Move Psychology Service. Please do not hesitate to contact the service if you have any questions or queries about the following information.
After you have contacted the service and completed the registration form you will be offered an initial assessment appointment. In this appointment you will asked what your needs are and the reason you have contacted the service. Typically, initial assessment appointments last up to an hour and a half. At the end of our appointment, depending on what has been discussed, we will will explore the most suitable options of support and together decide on the best way forward. If we agree to engage in psychological work together, we will agree a date/time for our sessions.
Most therapy appointments will typically last 50 minutes. Depending on the therapeutic approach or model some sessions may be longer. The recommended length of your sessions will be discussed with you prior to starting therapy. Initial assessments last up to an hour and a half.
If you wish to, you can stop your sessions at any point, whenever you wish to. Although there is no commitment to attend a specific number of sessions, we will aim for a set number of sessions that corresponds to the therapy goal that we develop at the start of our work together. You will also be invited to complete a review session at set intervals to ensure our work is in line with and is working towards our agreed therapy goal/ outcome.
Confidentiality is extremely important for Forward Move Psychology Service. Dr Jeffery is registered with the Independent Commissioner’s Office and is the data protection officer. In most circumstances, information that you share with your psychologist is kept confidential. All information that is held about you, paper based and electronic is processed in conjunction to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). For more information about the handling and processing of your data, please read the Forward Move Psychology privacy statement.
In exceptional circumstances, your information may need to be shared with an appropriate external authority if:
1) A disclosure has been made that is in the public interest, to prevent a miscarriage of justice, legal duty (e.g. relating to a Court Order or criminal activity), directly related to professional ethics and law.
2) A disclosure has been made that details information relating to risk such as concerns of potential harm towards a client, towards a child or another adult.
3) In order to meet your individual needs, information could be shared with your GP or other healthcare provider, with your consent, and after it has been agreed with you in advance. This could include sending them a discharge summary or an update on the progress towards your therapy goal in order to meet your individual needs.
Disclosure of information to a third party organisation will be discussed with you prior to any information being shared, unless your Psychologist believes it has the potential to increase the level of risk of harm towards yourself and/or someone else.
In accordance with practice guidelines set by the British Psychological Society (2017) it is a requirement for Clinical Psychologists to receive regular clinical supervision to ensure the interventions that are provided are of the highest standard. During Clinical Supervision all client information is made anonymous and confidentiality is maintained.
If you need to contact your psychologist in-between your appointments, please contact them via email or telephone. Your Psychologist will aim to get back to you as soon as it is possible, however, it is important to note messages are not always checked on a daily basis.
If an emergency situation arises in-between your sessions and you need to access support for your immediate safety (e.g. you are struggling to keep yourself and/or other people safe from harm), you are strongly advised to contact your GP and/or go to your local A&E. Forward Move Psychology Service does not operate a crisis response and we do not always check our emails or telephone messages on a daily basis.

Face to Face Initial Assessment Appointment (80 minutes) : £160
Online Initial Assessment Appointment (80 minutes): £144
Face to Face Therapy Session (50 minutes): £100
Online Therapy Session (50 mins): £90
Letters and Reports: Charged at the standard hourly rate
Telephone Consultation (excluding the 15 min initial telephone consultation): £45 per 30 minutes

Travel: 50% standard hourly rate
Business Mileage: 45p per mile
Payment should be settled at the end of each appointment. Payment can be settled by card, cash, cheque or direct bank transfer. All outstanding fees are requested to be settled prior to your next session and/or within a time frame agreed with your Psychologist. Any debts that are outstanding three months after the appointment date will be passed to a debt collector. Fees are reviewed on an annual basis and you will be provided with a month’s notice of any planned alterations to the set fee that is charged.
For sessions to be funded by Private Health Insurance, you will need to have authorisation from your insurance company and discussed this with Forward Move Psychology Service prior to your initial assessment appointment. Invoices for each session will be sent directly to your insurer. Please note- you will be liable to pay any non payments or excess fees that are outside of your agreement with your healthcare insurer.
All scheduled appointments reserve a time that is specifically dedicated to you, therefore, it is important to let your psychologist know as soon as it is possible if you would like to change the date or time of a scheduled appointment. If appointments are cancelled with 48 hours’ notice, you will not incur a fee. Non-attendance and requests to cancel appointments with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur a charge of 100% of the total fee.
You will be provided with as much notice as possible if your psychologist has any planned leave. In the event of unforeseeable circumstances or illness your psychologist will provide you with as much notice as possible if they need to cancel and/or rearrange your appointment. If appointments are cancelled by Forward Move Psychology you will not incur a fee.
